The Six-pack Ab Daily Food Intake Thingy.

Hi... Hope your holiday was grand! I totally stuffed myself for Christmas. I hope you're stuffing yourselves too. One more holiday to go, I won't be stuffing myself for this one, just sipping on some champagne! ...and auld lang syne!

Okay, now to get down to business. I'm taking some of the foods from the last post and creating daily food intake options. Remember, I only named a few tummy melting foods, there are cazillions out there, just use that list as a guide.
And think foods low in sodium, high in potassium, and eat the rainbow!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Breakfast-
1- Plain Yogurt w/ pistachios & apricots. And/or just sprinkled w/ flax seeds.
2- Egg White Omelet w/ sauteed spinach & chopped blackened chicken breast.
3- Whole Grain Cereal (always whole, never multi-) w/ soy milk.

Lunch-
1- Mixed Salad Greens w/ avocado, chick peas, kalamata olives, tomatoes & olive oil.
2- Orange, Banana & Strawberry Smoothie. Or Peanut Butter & Dark Chocolate Smoothie.
3- Turkey Sandwich on whole-grain toast, spinach, tomatoes & guacamole spread.

Dinner-
1- Pan Seared Salmon, asparagus & beet medley, wild rice, & a toasted garlic oil.
2- Marinated Chicken Breast w/ a baked potato, steamed broccoli, fig&date chutney.
3- Garlic Encrusted Pork Tenderloin, brussel sprouts, blk. rice, & a orange glaze.

(Combine a piece of fruit or a smoothie with these options to balance out the meal. And always have a glass of water with each meal.)

Just a few options in each category. What! No snacks... and only 3 categories. yes, no snacks and yes, 3 categories. I'm taking it back to old school. Yes, 3 meals a day. But, there's a twist.
The twist is: each day you are only allowed one food meal and the rest food bars. What!
Example: Day 1- Eat a food bar for breakfast, have a turkey sandwich... and a smoothie for lunch, and a food bar for dinner. Day 2- Eat a White egg omelet... and an orange for breakfast, a food bar for lunch, and a food bar for dinner. Day 3- Eat a food bar for breakfast, a food bar for lunch, and have a Pan seared salmon... and a fruit salad for dinner. And so on... mix and match any way you choose.
But only one food meal a day!
(Only exception is your pre work out snack and your post workout snack.)

On the last post I listed a variety of food bars. When picking ones for breakfast, lunch, and dinner pay attention to nutrition.
Breakfast food bar should be high in fiber (12g is good), 140 calories, 4g fat...
Lunch food bar should be high in protein (14g is good), 210 calories, 5g fat...
Dinner food bar should be loaded with vitamins and minerals, 200-400 calories, 15-30g protein, 25-40g carbs, low in fat...

(Always have water (at less 8oz.) with the bars and a hand full of nuts and/or a piece of fruit to balance out the food bars.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Always, always drink water everyday (at least 80oz. a day)!
Take your vitamins daily! I like Centrum. (Break multivitamins in half. Take 1/2 with breakfast and 1/2 with dinner.)
And drink green tea (hot or cold) every day (at least 3 cups a day)!

Well that's the Six-pack Ab Daily Food Intake Thingy.

When you feel hungry drink cold water (at least 6oz.), if you really, really feel hungry have a piece of fruit, or a hand full of nuts, or a hand full of veggies.

Remember consult your physician before trying this crazy daily food intake thingy.

And 1/3/11 is game time.
1/3/11 is go time.
let the count down begin.

Next post "The Tummy Melt Six-Pack Glorious Ab Workout"

peace out.

P.S. Of course you can't eat like this forever. We'll try this for a few weeks or so and then switch to something else.

Just THINK.

Wow, two post in one day! (Someone's feeling guilty for skipping days... not that I have to post everyday. And, I probably will not :)

Anyway, let's talk about tools for "game day 1/3/11"
so you got your detox cleanse (I know, not yet, I only just mentioned it in the last post.) 2nd- the best part, schedule an appointment for a massage (make sure it's a licensed massage therapist). A massage will soooo relax you, revitalize you, and most importantly jump start your body for your detox cleanse. (Some people believe a regular massage can rid the body of toxins. Then let's get massages regularly!!!)
3rd- the yummy part, fill our houses with tummy melting foods. Check out my list:
Spinach
Chocolate Milk (make your own, grass fed cow milk and choc. syrup or powder)**
Dried Fruits (dates, figs, prunes, raisins)
Green Tea (never add dairy to tea, it cancels out important compounds)**
Dandelion Tea*
Beets
Yogurt (go Greek and always plain, add your own berries or nuts)**
Asparagus*
Cantaloupes
Soybeans
Oranges
Blueberries (really any dark berries)**
Whole-Grains (bulgar, oats, quinoa)**
Broccoli
Lean Protein (turkey, pork tenderloin, chix breast, egg whites)*
Apricots
Tomatoes
Bananas*
Avocados**
Brown Rice, Wild Rice, especially Black Rice aka "the forbidden rice"*
Garlic
Water (always filtered, Mmmm Smart Water is my fav.)*
Omega-3's (wild salmon, walnuts, mackerel, herring)**
(if ya abhor fish, try Omega-3 supplements, and choose wisely think organic)
Dark Chocolate (the higher the % of cocoa = the better)*
Olives
Pistachios
Flaxseed (oil and seeds)*
Beans (lima, kidney,chickpeas, black beans)*

Whew, to name a few.
The starred items are my super-duper food picks for tummy melting! And if it has a double star, whoa... gobble it up, for tummy melting-fluff(aka fat)burning magic! There are more then enough items to create a menu for breakfast, snacks, lunch, and dinner. Also for the people who don't cook (that's me) and have a busy lifestyle. I recommend nourishing food bars, to eat on the go: Get anything by: Odwalla, Kind, Luna, gnu Foods, Nutri-Grain, Kashi TLC, Clif, Powerbars, etc. There's a lot out there. I highly recommend the macrobiotic and organic bars. (USDA approved Organic of course.) In a perfect world- ALL of your food intake should be organic, but in this world we live in... oh, that's a whole different story, that would require a whole different blog.
So... stock up, these bars will come in handy!

Really this covers a wide range of foods. Just think, mostly eat fruits and vegetables. A dear friend told me once "eat the rainbow", no... not a pack of skittles. Just try to eat a wide range and variety of colorful foods. If you do that daily, most likely you will have a lovely balanced food intake. Watch portion sizes (six oz. of lean protein a day will suffice) just think a deck of cards (which is equivalent to a three oz. portion). Think palm sizes, quarters, half-cups, hand fulls, a few, a square, or nothing at the moment. Drink lots and lots of water, just think the more water you drink, the less water you hold. And slow down on the booze, the salt, and the processed foods. And get plenty of sleep, just think you mess with your sleep, you get stressed, you eat, ya get bloat, ya tummy no melt. It's a vicious cycle!

I wanted to end there (actually, I did end there, last night) now I'm editing this ending as you read it, don't cha love technology.

With the list above, I wanted to leave your daily intake up to you (silly me, I do know you can have healthy choices at your finger tips, and still over indulge on them... hello, chocolate is on the list). But no, I will create a daily regiment for you to follow. Hey, that's what I'm here for.

Next Post:
Look for the Six-pack Ab Daily Food Intake Thingy... (trying so hard not to say diet:)

peace and eat the rainbow.

"...looking to experience extrodinary health..."

Bittersweet Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Creamy Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Chips, Chocolate Fudge Frosting... Oh yeah, that's just one cake! Lately, I've been eating something like this at least three times a week. And you should be too. That's right, get it out of your system.

Come January the 3rd "game day" we will be literally getting it out of your system. I recommend you get a detox kit! You can pick one up at your local health food store or drugstore or online. I got the Garden of Life brand called "Raw Cleanse." (I also like the Enzymatic Therapy brand called "Whole Body Cleanse"). They're about thirty bucks. I know what you're thinking... detox? I don't wanna crap my pants at work. First, it's not a harsh laxative, it's actually designed to support your own natural digestive and detoxification systems. (Though, I never tried the Raw Cleanse.) The last time I did a detox kit, it was very pleasant. The "elimination" mix is taken one hour before bedtime (no, you don't crap your pants in your sleep :), so when you wake up, you have your "movement". But, it's nothing crazy, it doesn't blast out of you, and you don't see worms (yuck, if you do somethings wrong) It's gentle and pleasant.

Another thing, as with any daily intake change, consult your physician before use, especially if you... blahhh, just read the box.

When I did the Enzymatic brand, it was good, but it was a two week cleanse. I switched to Garden of Life because it is a one week cleanse and it's made from raw ingredients, it's also vegan, gluten free, dairy free, no soy, etc. No, I'm not vegan (not that there's anything wrong with that...), I like dairy, and I'm not allergic to gluten or soy. But doing this tummy melting-six-pack ab thang, I want to lower my intake on some of these things, so what better way to start, than with a detox cleanse.

peacetox.

I call it... Mental Trickery...

Today I decided to do some late-late fall (yes, it's wintry out there, but it's still fall until the 21st) cleaning. I put on a DVD as background noise. I've had this DVD for a long while (no late fees, thanks Netflix!) It's a documentary film, so ya gotta be in the mood for those, right. And it was a brilliant idea to listen/watch it while I was cleaning.
So I'm sure all of my readers out there guessed it (or guessed something close to it), the film I watched was "Super Size Me"

Now, I'm no fast-food junkie. I think I've eaten fast-food about three times this year. But, I do over indulge on foods that are NOT healthy.
You need a film like this to jump start your brain into thinking healthy. This film will keep me away from fast-food chains for several months. But the addictive additives, the speediness, and the ubiquitous nature of these chains will, drag me back in. But that's okay, I am not here to punish myself.

So, I recommend you watch some of these documentary films:
Food Inc., King Corn, The Botany of Desire, to name some of my favorites. Really, read anything by Michael Pollan and it will enlighten you and definitely change your mind on all things we call food!
This information will educate you on what's going into your body. Or, it will totally gross you out and you will starve yourself! Aha! That is my plan!
No... but seriously your food intake is one of the main keys, in melting that tummy and getting that nice six-pack. I am composing a list of food items that are yummy for your tummy and that will help melt your tummy at the same time (I will post it soon).

peace.

In the BEGINNING...

...okay here's the situation.
Not "The Situation" from Jersey, although I'm writing from Jersey, blah, blah...

Okay, let's start again. I got a new job about a month ago and I'm surrounded by food, food. Mainly the sweet, sweet stuff, Ahhh...
Although I was surrounded by food on my last job, it was a smaller place, with not so many sweets, and the smell of freshly baked cookies didn't fill the air quite like this new place. Ahhh... Freshly baked cookie smell... everyday!
You see what I'm saying? You hear what I mean? :)

Anyway, I've always wanted nice toned abs (a six pack, not "The Situation" six pack), nice toned female abs. I'm 5'9", about 140 lbs. (last I checked. I could have easily gained 15-20 lbs. since working at my new job). So, I'm slim, a little toned, with a little pouch, no biggie (no pun... again, no pun.) But, what's wrong with slim people wanting to tone up? Society laughs at us for trying to exercise, "us slim folk don't need it", they say. But, being slim doesn't mean you're healthy and being fluffy doesn't mean you're not healthy. I want to get in shape, not lose a lot of weight and waste away.

So, I've been enjoying my gluttonous self for the pass few weeks. Just coming out of turkey day and on to Christmas, I will continue my gluttonous ways til the end of the month. And then I will start a plan for myself to gain my six pack! It will be a great, great challenge! Whew, I'm already tired. But I do believe I can do it.

Please, join me on this journey. Slim folks, fluffy folks, and in-between-ers, I need you. Read this blog, send me comments, kind words, tough love, questions, answers, poems, pics, etc., etc...

Motivate me, to motivate you!

Game Day starts January 3rd 2011. Join me on this six pack adventure.
In a perfect world I would love for you to start this adventure with me.
